The Client
Lake Family Dental was known as a challenging client with specific expectations about website design. I had built his original website through an agency I was freelancing for, but he remained unsatisfied. He wanted new images, and a change to the overall design.
The challenge
The client did not supply many details about what he disliked about his current website design. All he told us was that he wanted the scheduling button to be more prominent, to push users toward scheduling an appointment. He also said that he wanted the site to look more like that of his competitors'. The project manager did not provide me with any guidance beyond what the client had stated, and did not assign the designer to help me with the project. I set out to solve the problem myself.
The Solution
After googling around and studying the websites of the client's competitors, I decided to update the menu and the rest of the site with more prominent scheduling buttons, so users would not be able to miss the clear call to action.
I was eager to update the menu and experiment with new design ideas. I condensed the menu items into submenus and made the sticky menu shift on scroll. The result is eye catching.
I also added a sidebar for other buttons, including phone and pay buttons. I was concerned this might be going overboard, but it turned out that my initial instinct was correct.
The Result
After a few round of discussion with the client, we actually make the decision to go with this due to it’s boldness and simplicity.
