About Romina

I am a freelance web developer based in Colorado.

About

I began my journey into web development when I was fourteen, designing and publishing personal sites with basic HTML and CSS. I continued dabbling in web development throughout college, but I never considered it as a possible career path until after I finished graduate school, when I began building professional websites as part of a "side hustle." I prefer to call that phase of my web development career moonlighting.

Soon, I realized that my original career path in civil service was not for me. Washington D.C. was dreary, the culture intolerably dysfunctional. I shifted my focus to web development, joining projects and experimenting with different tech stacks from Ruby on Rails, to Java, to WordPress, to Next.JS.

I've been freelancing since 2013, and my goal is to keep current on emerging technologies while minding the fads. I focus on responsive design, semantic markup, accessibility, and performance.

My Work

From 2018 to 2022, I was the sole web developer at a healthcare marketing agency based in Lone Tree, Colorado. In those four years, I built over 150 WordPress websites for small business clients from all over the United States. As a result, I have a great deal of experience working with small project teams, building websites from static mocks, and pushing them to production servers.

More About Me

Outside of work, I keep myself busy with hobbies: self-hosting, gardening, knitting, home improvement, weight lifting, and running tabletop RPGs with friends. I'm passionate about science fiction, and can often be found scribbling in my home office. I live in Colorado with my husband, two sons, and two cats.
